A National Employability and Skills Provider delivering a well-established Offender Rehabilitation contract across London to young people leaving custody is seeking to appoint a Employability Case Manager to join a team of Case Manager colleagues at a South West London prison.

You will work with low-level offenders who are nearing the release from prison and will help prepare them for release into the community through the provision of advice and guidance to help maximise their chances of training or education upon release. The rehabilitation contract provides a full-service to young offenders with the ultimate aim of assisting them to avoid re-offending by moving into employment, Traineeships or Apprenticeships. This is achieved by a network of your colleagues who provide support prior to release through to case managers who work with the ex-offenders upon release, and assist them with everything from accommodation through to eventually gaining employment / training.

You will work closely with your co-workers to help small groups of ex-offenders who voluntarily sign up with the programme and the support provided. Your primary objectives will be to deliver employability workshops and help them develop a positive attitude which will enable them to take advantage of all the support that is available both pre and post release. You will also work on a one-to-one basis with your clients where necessary and will work closely with your colleague to plan and achieve the best possible actions for all of your clients.

To interview for this role you must have a Criminology degree or experience working with Offenders/Ex-Offenders (ideally young offenders) and understand the multiple barriers they face in ‘turning their lives around’. Experience of providing employability advice would be ideal and any teaching/advice qualifications such as PTTLS and/or IAG would be an advantage but is by no means essential.
